I'm taking Web I: html so that I can learn how to build websites. I'm in dire need of a self-promotional site, and I would also like to supplement my income by making them on a freelance basis. I currently work in the print industry, and although I do a fair amount of design between work and side-jobs, web design always seems to come up in the conversation. After being asked by a client to make them a website for the eleventy-millionth time, I decided it would be foolish of me to pass up another opportunity to learn how.

I've been wrestling with the idea of going back to school versus trying to teach myself how to do it, since many of my design friends suggested that I take that route. After thinking about it for awhile, I concluded that I thrive in a classroom environment much more than I do in front of my own computer at home. Critical feedback from other students/designers is imperative, and I look forward to those learning opportunities as we proceed this semester. I'm also good friends with one of our classmates. Sean Rees and I attended Cleveland State University together back in the mid 2000's, and we'd both like to add a feather to our caps as designers by learning web design.
